James graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in Biology from Queen Mary, University of London. He began his career at PA Consulting Group in 1996, and joined Quilter & Co in 1998 before moving in 2003 to Laing & Cruickshank, where he was appointed Associate Director. Laing & Cruickshank was subsequently acquired by UBS Wealth Management in 2004. In 2006 James joined Cheviot Asset Management, where he is responsible for managing portfolios on behalf of individuals, trusts, charities and pension funds. He is a chartered Fellow of the Securities & Investment Institute and sits on the alternative investments committee.
