Phillip began his career at private client stock broking firm AJ Bekhor in 1973. Following a move in 1979 to R Layton (which became Scott Goff Layton in 1984) he moved to Astaire in 1985. In 1993, backed by Kingston Smith, he founded Cheviot Capital, which was acquired in May 2006 to form Cheviot Asset Management. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Securities Institute and is responsible for managing portfolios on behalf of individuals, trusts, charities and pensions funds.
