Robert graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 1968. In the same year he began his career in the Private Client department of Hoare Govett. He now manages funds for individuals, trusts, charities and pension funds, and has been an Investment Director at WI Carr, R Nivison & Co, Laing & Cruickshank, UBS Wealth Management and now Cheviot Asset Management.
